Mother's Day Tea Inspired Floral Designs

They say Victoria is more British than Britain. Maybe that is why treating mothers to high tea on Mother's Day has become a tradition here.

This year I decided on a Tea Party theme for my Mother's Day floral arrangements which are featured on the Holiday and Monthly special page  of my website www.flowerartisan.com . Here you will find flowers arranged in mugs, teacup and saucers, mini teapots, regular teapots, serving bowls, and the new Alice in Wonderland vases.

These funky vases look like a combination of teapots and cups and saucers precariously stacked on top of each other.

Of course I will have all the usual arrangements but if you want something more unique these Wonderland vases will certainly be a conversation piece at any tea party or as a dinner centerpiece.

When ordering your flowers please keep in mind that many moms are invited out on Mother's Day. It is advisable to have the flowers delivered a day or two ahead of Mother's Day when she is more likely to be home for a delivery. We only use the freshest flowers so they will still look fabulous on her special day and you won't have to worry about her getting them in time.

Celebration of Life Memorial Flowers- Victoria BC-Artistry in Bloom

Flowers are an important part of any Celebration of Life Memorial and should reflect the life and personality of the loved one you are celebrating.

Recently I did the flowers for my father's memorial service.

Dad was like a ray of sunshine brightening the lives of everyone who knew him and I wanted the flowers to match his spirit.

The flowers had to be bright and warm like the sun and also reflect his love of lemons.

Dad loved lemon drops, lemon meringue pie, lemon cake, lemonade, lemon pudding- you name it. If there were lemons in it he loved it.

If dad could see his memorial I knew he would have a chuckle at lemons in his wreath.

I also added some camillia leaves from mom and dad's garden and some hellebores flowers from my garden to reflect the many hours he spent working in his garden and visiting in mine.

Dad's memorial was on Saturday March 17. I went back to work on Tuesday and the first call I had was from a lady ordering flowers for her uncle. She said she didn't want the usual sympathy arrangement and that she wanted all yellow flowers because her uncle was a retired lemon farmer from California. I asked her if she would like me to put some lemons in the arrangement and she thought that would be wonderful.

                                                                    How amazing is that? 

                                      I hope there are lemons in heaven.

A last minute summer wedding in Victoria BC by Artistry in Bloom

Yesterday I did a small last minute wedding.

The bride had decided she wouldn't have
flowers at her wedding and just carry Peacock feathers.

Her mother wanted a more traditional wedding so she decided to buy the wedding flowers as a gift.

Special flowers and colours are usually pre-ordered a month ahead of time so with only a week's notice it was a bit of a challenge to find the right purple and red tones the mother requested.

If you are going to do a last minute wedding summer is the best time.

I was able to use some flowers from the garden center like deep red geraniums, purple verbena, purple heliotrope, and Aloha Lily to complement the more traditional flowers.

When the mother arrived to pick up the flowers she was tickled to see the peacock feather I had attached to the front of the vase for the ceremony flowers.

It was a beautiful day with a beautiful waterfront location for the wedding and I hope the flowers added a special touch above and beyond the peacock feathers.

2011 Mother's Day Flowers-Victoria BC-Heart of the Home Floral Designs

Mom is the heart of the home so for this year I decided to incorporate a home and garden theme for my Mother's Day Floral Designs.

In many cases I have used household items for containers such as wine goblets,Chintz bowls,teacup sets,teapots, jugs, herb pots or garden urns just to name a few.Mom will have a keepsake she can use again and remember your Mother's Day gift throughout the year.

I will also have a wide range of other vases and containers to appeal to all ages ranging from the popular funky shoes and chemistry beakers for young moms to modern stream lined glass vases to painted baskets for grandmothers.

Mothers do so much for their children no matter what age their children are. Show her how much you appreciate her caring help, guidance, and love with something special just for her.
