 I can't remember ever seeing a flower arrangement with red roses and blue violets and yet the poem is one of the most popular Valentine sentiments.

I searched online and sure enough I couldn't find any flower arrangements that had both red roses and blue violets.  I decided to do a few myself to capture the feeling of that popular romantic poem.

Winter on the west coast is often dull and dreary.

The oranges and rusts of autumn have passed .

The reds, whites, sparkling golds and silvers of Christmas will be here before we know it.

Now is the time for the rich jewel tones of early winter that are sure to brighten the day of whomever receives one of these warm winter floral arrangements.

In this custom arrangement I covered two sizes of vine balls with pepper berries and heather and added fresh green apples and ornamental black peppers for an organic touch.

The glossy black vases in these arrangements make the purples, reds, and greens of the flowers pop with colour.

Burgundy snapdragons and spray roses create a backdrop for the bright red Freedom roses and lime green Cymbidium orchids.

The days may be cold and damp but flowers remind us that spring will return and in the meantime we can enjoy nature's beautiful bounty of flowers indoors.

Mother's Day Tea Inspired Floral Designs

They say Victoria is more British than Britain. Maybe that is why treating mothers to high tea on Mother's Day has become a tradition here.

This year I decided on a Tea Party theme for my Mother's Day floral arrangements which are featured on the Holiday and Monthly special page  of my website www.flowerartisan.com . Here you will find flowers arranged in mugs, teacup and saucers, mini teapots, regular teapots, serving bowls, and the new Alice in Wonderland vases.

These funky vases look like a combination of teapots and cups and saucers precariously stacked on top of each other.

Of course I will have all the usual arrangements but if you want something more unique these Wonderland vases will certainly be a conversation piece at any tea party or as a dinner centerpiece.

When ordering your flowers please keep in mind that many moms are invited out on Mother's Day. It is advisable to have the flowers delivered a day or two ahead of Mother's Day when she is more likely to be home for a delivery. We only use the freshest flowers so they will still look fabulous on her special day and you won't have to worry about her getting them in time.
